Working from home survival guide
Has your home suddenly become your office? Our new “normal” has become something that we never thought would happen. But here we are, so let’s make the best of it. We’ve put together some tips to help you get into a routine, ease the stress and just learn to go with it.
Work Regular Hours:
One way to work from home productively is to hit your to-do list as soon as you wake up. If you procrastinate it will be way too easy to put things off and sluggishness will take over. Also, make sure you end at a specific time each day. Don’t let work take you into the evening hours. You need downtime for your sanity!
Create a schedule and follow it as best as you can.
Multitasking Rules:
Are you trying to work, teach, and parent all at the same time? This can get very stressful, very quickly. Do your best to get the kids on a school schedule and yourself on a work schedule. Get up, get dressed, have some coffee and conquer the day!
Take Breaks:
Use your breaks to get away from your desk. Go for a walk outside, do some yoga stretches in the living room, or spend time with family members. A 10 minute break is sure to recharge you.
Continue to Socialize:
Yes, you will miss your co-workers and socializing. You can still meet up – just do it virtually via Skype, Facebook watch party, FaceTime or Facebook Messenger or any of other tech channel. Meet up with a group of friends in the evening via Zoom and just laugh, tell stories and relax. Don’t mention COVID or anything else that can bring the mood down. This is your time for laughter and getting away from the real world.
Stay Positive:
We all need to maintain a healthy outlook on life. This too shall pass. But in the meantime, keep your chin up, read a book, spend time outdoors, call a friend- these are great ways to ease stress and to refocus. Keep active during your time at home and follow your schedule.
