Hometown Heroes: Shannon M.
At Reliabank, we believe that every community has its own set of hometown heroes. These are the people who work hard behind the scenes to make sure their community thrives. They may not be in the spotlight, but they’re the ones who make a difference in our communities every day.
That’s why Reliabank is proud to recognize the heroes of our communities with the Hometown Hereos award.
This week’s Hometown Hero is Shannon Merkouris of Sioux Falls, SD.
Shannon is a special education teacher at John Harris Elementary school. In 2019 she was named South Dakota’s Parent Nominated Special Ed Staff of the Year. Shannon’s passion for training the next generation and caring for children is truly inspiring. She puts in extra hours and her own funds to ensure that every child in her classroom receives the best education possible. Shannon takes great joy in seeing steps of development in her students’ lives and works tirelessly to help each child reach their full potential. In the Special Ed Program, Shannon becomes family with the students, connecting with each one and providing them with the support they need to thrive. With Shannon as their teacher, the children she cares for are truly in good hands.
