Reliabank’s Nick Moffenbier Named to ICBA’s 2026 40 Under 40: Community Bank Leaders List
Recognized Nationally Among Community Banking’s Rising Leaders
Reliabank is proud to announce that Nick Moffenbier, Vice President of Ag Banking, has been named to ICBA‘s (Independent Community Bankers of America) 2026 40 Under 40: Community Bank Leaders list.
Presented annually by Independent Banker magazine, the award recognizes emerging leaders who are helping shape the future of community banking through innovation, leadership, community involvement, and service. Honorees are selected from community banks across the country and recognized for their commitment to customers, communities, and the future of community banking.
For those who know Nick, this recognition truly comes as no surprise.
Based in the Watertown area, Nick serves agricultural producers, business owners, and families throughout northeast South Dakota and the surrounding region. While he is widely respected for his expertise in agricultural lending and community banking, those who work alongside him know that his impact extends far beyond his role at Reliabank.
“ICBA congratulates Nick on this well-deserved recognition,” said ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey. “Each year, the 40 Under 40 honorees remind us of the talent and leadership strengthening community banking across the country. Nick has demonstrated the drive, professionalism, and forward-looking leadership that this recognition is meant to celebrate.”
A Reflection of Reliabank’s Commitment to Community
A graduate of Lake Area Technical College, Nick earned his Associate of Applied Science degree in Financial Services in 2017. Today, he continues to invest in the next generation of banking and agricultural professionals by serving as an adjunct instructor at Lake Area Technical College, where he teaches Ag Lending.
His commitment to education and community leadership extends well beyond the classroom. Nick currently serves as President of the Lake Area Technical College Alumni Association and Treasurer of the Glacial Lakes Humane Society. Through these leadership roles, he helps strengthen organizations that make a meaningful difference throughout the Watertown area and surrounding communities.
“Being recognized on ICBA Independent Banker’s 40 Under 40: Community Bank Leaders List is a true honor,” said Moffenbier. “Community banking is rooted in relationships, trust, and a commitment to helping local families and businesses succeed. I’m proud to serve as a community banker and grateful for the opportunity to advance the mission of Reliabank while making a positive impact in our community every day.”
Nick’s passion for agriculture is also deeply personal. Raised on a family farm, Nick developed a deep appreciation for agriculture and rural communities at an early age, experiences that continue to shape his work as an agricultural banker today. His firsthand understanding of agriculture provides valuable perspective when working with farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses throughout the region.
That personal connection to agriculture, combined with his professional expertise, allows Nick to serve as more than a banker. He strives to be a trusted resource, educator, and advocate for his customers and community. Whether helping producers navigate financing decisions, teaching future professionals in the classroom, or sharing his knowledge through community involvement, Nick is committed to helping others succeed.
Outside of banking, Nick enjoys giving back to the communities he serves through volunteerism and community involvement. He has been involved in planning events such as the Lake Area Technical College Festival of Trees, helps operate the Reliabank community grill at various local events, and assists with organizing the annual Reliabank Charity Classic Golf Tournament. These opportunities allow him to support local organizations, build relationships, and contribute to the communities that have played an important role in his personal and professional life.
Building Stronger Communities Through Local Banking
“As a family-owned community bank, we ask our employees to wear many hats and stay actively engaged not only with our customers but also within the communities we serve,” said Joshua Hogue, President and CEO of Reliabank. “Nick Moffenbier fully embraces that role, bringing passion, purpose, and expertise to everything he does. He exemplifies the true value a community banker can offer, strengthening relationships, our organization, and the communities we serve. Nick makes our bank better and our community stronger. We join ICBA in celebrating his well-deserved recognition and look forward to supporting his continued growth and success.”
At Reliabank, our mission extends Beyond Banking. We believe strong communities are built through relationships, leadership, service, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed. Nick embodies those values every day through his work with customers, his leadership in community organizations, his commitment to education, and his passion for agriculture.
His recognition by ICBA reflects not only his accomplishments as a banker, but also the positive impact he continues to make throughout northeast South Dakota. Nick exemplifies the very best of community banking and the core values that have guided Reliabank for generations.
Reliabank congratulates Nick on this outstanding achievement and joins ICBA in celebrating his contributions to community banking, agriculture, and the communities he proudly serves.
